Mother Night to Mother Light

This class will take you deeply into the tradition of Celtic Shamanism. This time of year is perfect to open or deepen your relationship to two incredible emissaries of the divine feminine. They can be called the Dark Mother and the Bright Mother, Mother Night and Mother Light, Goddess of Ending and Goddess of Beginning, Bringer of Healing and Bringer of New Life.

I call them The Old Bone Mother (or the Irish Cailleach) and The Reindeer Mother. The Old Bone Mother/Cailleach is a Celtic autumn-into-winter figure. She is the transformer who helps release dead energies that constrict our behaviour patterns. Reindeer is a beautiful winter solstice figure and bringer of new life. I came to the Reindeer from my work with a shaman (Noadi) from the Sami people of Northern Norway. However, Reindeer is also present throughout the Celtic world, although not overtly evident. Both of these spirit helpers have been fundamentally important to me for decades, in my personal life and in my healing work.

This class will dive into their mythic stories and spiritual powers so that you can invite their medicine into yourself for however you want to use it in the world. The goal is to exit this class with these two otherworldly helpers on board for you as healers and teachers.

I'm putting this class up right now because not only are these two spirit guides awesome for people personally, they are very active right now globally.

The class will use the shamanic drum journey as a meditation and prayer tool. If you are unfamiliar with this technique, don’t worry. It’s easier than it is often made out to be, and when you register, I’ll give you my “Basic Journey Guide” that will help you. We will journey in each class, and I hope that you will commit to journeying at least twice per week during the five-week class. (A journey is typically 15-30 minutes.)

During the five weeks of the class, I’ll also email you additional resources to pursue as you wish, including various awesome myths and faery stories of the "Dark Feminine," songs, prayers, poems, videos, and essays. The bulk of these resources will come from the Celtic Shamanic World.
